Here I will provide a brief description of some of my concert history. Although I haven't been great at saving written reviews of myself and the bands I've performed with, I'll quote from the few that I still have. This Concerts page is accompanied by the Concert Photos and Concert Posters pages that you will see in the navigation links on the right. Captions beneath those pictures relate to the written material below.

SASKATCHEWAN IN THE 1960's - performances with a variety
of prairie rock bands
In the late 1960's, as a very young fellow in my early
teens, I performed with some early prairie rock bands,
which included
The Wildsmen,
The Unwritten Document,
and
The Sound of One Hand Clapping. I
couldn't begin to count how many dances and concerts I
performed at with these bands.

SASKATCHEWAN IN THE 1970's - performances with rock
band
EDEN
I performed at literally hundreds of rock concerts and
dances in the 70's with my band-mates from
EDEN throughout
Saskatchewan and even slightly into Manitoba and Alberta.
On the page
EDEN - the band on this
website I go into much more detail on our once popular
band.

REGINA GUILD OF FOLK ARTS, Regina SK - 1988
This was
my first performance for this musically appreciative crowd
at Regina's Copper Kettle
Restaurant. It
was my treat to perform an acoustic warm up set for
Vancouver based headliner
Stephen Fearing. He
was a a masterful guitarist and songwriter even back
then. Since then he's been involved in solo as well as
group projects, one of the later being
Blackie and the Rodeo
Kings.
Stephen is a veteran Vancouver musician who travels the
world.

THE SANDMAN INN,
Regina SK - 1988
The
bar/restaurant management of the south side Regina landmark
was gracious enough to have me perform regularly at their
pool-side bar and restaurant. Someone once informed me that
there was a ballroom at this hotel that the talented
'prince of polyester', David Lindley and
his band once performed at some years prior. Since I've
moved to Vancouver area I've had the pleasure of seeing
this gifted and entertaining veteran musician perform on
2 occasions. Once solo at the Vancouver East Cultural
Centre, and
once with legendary Ry Cooder at
the historic Orpheum Theatre.

REGINA GUILD OF FOLK ARTS, Regina SK - 1989
It was
both fun and exciting to perform an acoustic warm up set
for headliner, and Canada's acoustic guitar wizard from
Ontario, Don Ross.
I've heard a lot of acoustic guitarists live and on
record, and his skills and tasteful playing far exceed
that of anyone else I've heard. A few international
guitarists that I've heard and seen come close, but I
think Don still edges forth as the king among the varied
and amazing acoustic ax troops world-wide. His amazing
talent is well balanced with a warm, humble and funny
personality. He has since married Canadian talented east
coast performer and songwriter Brooke Miller, who
he works with musically as well as with the guitar
group Men of Steel. Don
still does his well received solo tours in his perpetual
globe trotting fashion.

MICHAEL'S ON HAMILTON, Regina SK - 1989
This was
a quaint family owned restaurant and bar that I used to
perform at regularly on acoustic guitar. The bar had
a Cheers
type of
atmosphere where there was often something amusing
happening, just like on the TV series. Those were very
happy times for me and I used to look forward to going
there to perform and have a few late night brews with the
staff and clientele.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
THE SASKATCHEWAN HOTEL, Regina, SK - 1989
I
remember playing there in their basement bar once or twice
on acoustic guitar. It was a loud but fun place to hang
out. The manager at the time was very generous with
providing beer for the musicians. The bar had regular solo
acts, duo acts and bands taking the stage on most nights
every week.

NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sk - in April
1989
Acoustic guitar solo performing became a joy for me and I
thus performed extensively in and around Regina in clubs
bars and restaurants. One far reaching concert was to North
Battleford, Sask. in April 1989 to perform for a large
international gathering of the Sweet Adelines. At
that time I went by the stage name The
Traveling Troubadour. A
local newspaper called THE TELEGRAPH reviewed my
performance stating:
“Jeff Wyatt was The Traveling Troubadour Saturday and
enchanted the crowd…”

REGINA GUILD OF FOLK ARTS, Regina SK - 1990
Once
again I had the pleasure of performing for this warm crowd
presenting an acoustic/electric warm up set for the
brilliant and velvety voiced Lynn Miles at
Regina's Copper Kettle
Restaurant.
She's a very funny lady as well with a very calm,
straight delivery of a punch line. That evening I had
performed a few tracks off my newly released
album
Flight of the Hawk with
musical assistance from my good buddy bassist Stan Dorsett
(who I had played with in the prairie rock band
EDEN) along
with a local tabla player whose name escapes me.

THE ROGUE FOLK
CLUB,
Vancouver BC - June 1992
After my move to the
west coast of British Columbia I became involved in more
solo performing at bars and clubs. One such included a
short, single set performance at the
W.I.S.E. Hall in Vancouver BC for
Rogue Folk Club.
What a warm and appreciative crowd they were. Here's
excerpts from the ROGUE FOLK REVIEW, June 1992,
Vol. 6 No. 7:
“Jeff Wyatt was also making his debut at the hall and had
the guts to open with a tricky instrumental
entitled
Arizona Wedding March….Jeff’s
voice reminded of Murray McLauchlan’s, yet I could never
quite pinpoint why. Maybe it had something to do with
the way he slid down a crescendo to a bass swallow (African
or European Swallow? – ed. Sorry). Jeff had a
considerable professional stage presence,…His guitar riffs
were strong…”

SPIRALS, North Vancouver BC - throughout
1993
In
1993 I used to perform regularly at a fun, funky, colorful
little club in North Vancouver near the foot of Lonsdale
called SPIRALS. It was owned by a man named Ian who
liked to support local artists. Artsy people hung out,
performed, exhibited their art on the walls and just
generally had a great time, supporting and inspiring each
other. Each of us musicians took our turns performing
on it’s very warm, vertically challenged stage,… above the
kitchen. I refer to this stage in a line of a song I
recently wrote (“…on a stage so small, I couldn’t stand up
tall…”). Although the original building still exists,
SPIRALS no longer does, but it lives on in the memories of
the many who regularly dropped in for a pint, a tune and a
visit.
As
a side note......it
was here where I met a pretty redhead waitress named Janice
Streng. We hung out together from time to time over
the following months that I performed there, but we never
seriously perused any ongoing relationship with each other
at the time. It was all very casual. After
Janice stopped working there, and I stopped playing there
we lost touch, only to accidentally(?) reunite in July
2006. Janice and I were married on August 4th,
2007.

?????, North Vancouver BC - August
20th,1994
From my time at SPIRALS I had the pleasure of meeting a
number of good local musicians and songwriters. One of
which was guitarist and local radio DJ Shawn Carle. Shawn
Carle,
Todd Butler and I once
performed a 1994 North Vancouver gig together at a bar
(I can't remember the name of) on Lonsdale, a number of
blocks north of where SPIRALS was located. Shawn
arranged this enjoyable event.

NORMAN ROTHSTEIN
THEATRE,

this particular evening I got to use the theater’s
vintage, refurbished 6-1/2 foot Steinway “A” grand piano
(circa 1910).
Paul Baker handled
sound engineering. Derek Mack provided lighting
and theatre technical direction. Guitar
amplification was provided by
Mike Freda with
his tube amps. As with the previous Rothstein
